In Plain Sight: Annabell Furner, Medieval Grocer
In 1437, a woman walked into an Italian bank in London and bought £38 of saffron — six years' wages. Her name was Annabell Furner, the earliest recorded female grocer. Students from Mossbourne Community Academy and St Mary's RC Primary School explored her story through art at Grocers' Hall. Visit the online exhibition.

Written in the Records: Primary Schools Uncover Black History in Putney
For six days in October 2025, St. Mary's Church in Putney hosted "Written in the Records"—an exhibition uncovering 130 years of Black history through parish records from the 1620s-1750s. Three primary schools created over 60 portraits restoring dignity to 17 forgotten residents: workers, families and community members whose lives had been reduced to racial descriptors in historical documents.
