Our Co-founder, Yvette, was part of a small audience invited to hear firsthand from the new Secretary of State for Education, Nahim Zahawi.
The former Vaccines Minister spoke candidly about his three main priorities for education: skills, schools and families. Skills development appears to feature heavily on the Government's agenda, with T-levels set to become the standard for level 3 (equivalent to A-levels) vocational qualifications.
Zahawi, who came to the UK as a boy unable to speak English, is determined that all young people have the same opportunities that he had to establish his place in society. T-levels are part of the Government's wider "levelling up" initiative, where young people choosing to pursue a vocational qualification can gain a valuable skill and reap the same financial rewards as their academic counterparts.
Supporting schools, investment in maths and more help for families are also on the agenda.
